Ständig fließende Geld- und Warenströme: Die elementaren Funktionen der europäischen Geldwirtschaft werden in einer raumgreifenden, skulpturalen Videoinstallation sichtbar. Ein mäanderförmiges, leuchtendes Band zieht sich durch den Raum und bildet die Ausstellungsarchitektur des Besucherzentrums. Auf dem Band, das aus transparenten, biegsamen Monitoren besteht, fließt ein endloser Strom von Zahlen, Informationen und Objekten durch den Ausstellungsraum:
Sie tauchen auf, verdichten sich, lösen sich wieder auf und formieren sich neu. Ein Wirtschaftskreislauf, der auf assoziative Weise den Zusammenhang von Geldmengensteuerung, Produktivität und Wohlstand symbolisiert.
Im Zentrum der Präsentation stehen runde, tischhohe Ausstellungsmodule, die zu interaktiven Planspielen einladen: Wie wirken Unternehmen, private Haushalte und der Staat bei der Entstehung des Sozialprodukts zusammen? Welchen Handlungsspielraum hat die EZB, um eine Geldpolitik zu betreiben, die für eine langfristig stabile Geldentwicklung notwendig ist?
Das Besucherzentrum der EZB spricht alle Sprachen: Dank eines RFID-Chips in der Eintrittskarte wird jeder Besucher im Besucherzentrum in seiner Landessprache angesprochen.
Constantly flowing streams of money and goods: The elementary functions of the European money economy are made visible in a space-consuming, sculptural video installation. A mäandering, glowing ribbon runs through the room and forms the exhibition architecture of the visitor centre. An endless stream of numbers, information and objects flows through the exhibition space on the ribbon, which is made up of transparent, flexible monitors:
They appear, condense, dissolve and reform. It is an economic cycle that symbolises in an associative way the relationship between money, productivity and prosperity.
At the centre of the presentation are circular, table-high exhibition modules that invite visitors to engage in interactive planning games: How do companies, private households and the state interact in the creation of the national product? What room for manoeuvre does the ECB have to pursue the kind of monetary policy that is necessary for long-term monetary stability?
The visitor centre of the ECB speaks all languages: Thanks to an RFID chip in the admission ticket, every visitor is addressed in his or her national language.
